The Places We Go!

Friends and communicators, where is your Muse? I find mine walking along the Elizabeth River Trail, daydreaming at the beach, poring over the morning papers and here at my desk—an old oak table stained with coffee cup rings and pen marks.

This is where my Muse and I put pen to paper, words to screen. And what a meeting of the minds we have had over the years. There was the time we pitched (and got!) a full-page news story of how a famous Bollywood actor transformed herself into a successful American businessperson through franchising with 7-Eleven. Or when we mapped out plans for Outer Banks Traveler, collaborating with writers, photographers and designers to produce the stunning wayfarer’s guide to coast and sound country.

There were moments as well when the subject matter was somber. Following a tragic helicopter crash that killed 17 Navy SEALs and 5 Naval Special Warfare support personnel in 2011, we turned the desk into communications central. There, we trained spokespeople and managed national press relations for the Navy SEAL Foundation, which provides tragedy assistance for families of the fallen.

Today, the Muse and I still have a terrific rapport—and we are not alone. We have now added leaves to the desk, to seat our collaborative team of brand builders, creative designers, advertising gurus and social media whisperers. When we’re not finding inspiration at the movies or gazing at clouds, you will find us here—writing, pitching, posting and sharing stories that move people and build brands.

Thank you for taking a peek at our first blog post. We hope you will check in again for future missives here at Musings.
